EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques
I discovered the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2011 that I really began to understand its value and how deeply it works. When I started implementing the technique in my therapy room, I saw first-hand how my clients noticed immediate relief – sometimes even within minutes!
EFT (also known as tapping) is a simple, innovative technique based on lightly tapping the fingertips on specific acupressure points on the body. It helps restore emotional balance by eliminating unresolved issues and emotional distress such as fear, phobias, anxiety, grief, guilt, and addictions. The process combines applied kinesiology, cognitive psychology and acupuncture. In Chinese Medicine, energy is believed to flow along meridians in the body through specific points. By tapping on a sequence of these points and vocalising your emotions, thoughts, and physical manifestations of stress, the emotional charge dissipates, and change can take place. In a way, you’re erasing the negative energy of specific life journeys or events from your body. |
It is a unique combination that helps you shift your physical and emotional energy in the direction of relief. Dr Church, Ph.D., puts it best when in his article for the Huffington Post, he says that EFT gives you the best of both worlds: body and mind. It simultaneously accesses stress on physical and emotional levels, so it’s like getting a massage during a psychotherapy session.
In my experience, this simple but incredibly effective tool can shift our beliefs and thoughts quickly. And when combined with Matrix Reimprinting, these shifts are greatly enhanced when imprinted with new and empowering images, perceptions, and feelings. The two make a powerful combination!
